The next big Wii U exclusive title is fasting approaching with Sega’s Sonic Lost World and the game continues giving off strong Super Mario Galaxy vibes. This isn’t a bad thing, far from it, Sonic Lost World is arguably doing what a number of gamers were hoping/expecting to see from Mario himself.
For a while it seemed like Sonic was truly finished after a series of awful titles, even by 3D Sonic standards. Magically in 2010 Sega bounced back with Sonic Colours and later Sonic Generations, both titles were well received and Sonic has been on the rise to quality games once again. It seems to have come at the expense of the 2D games as Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I & II are a disgrace.
Sonic Lost World for the Nintendo Wii U is the latest 3D Sonic title and it isn’t borrowing from Sonic Colours nor Sonic Generations. Instead Sonic Lost World appears to be a crazy mix between Super Mario Galaxy inspired stages and the sense of speed we’ve come to expect from Sonic titles. It’s a little confusing at first but once you’ve got to grips with the mechanics, the game can be a blast as I found out when I went hands on a few months ago.
Sonic Lost World will be available from October 18th in Europe and October 22nd in North America. There’s also a 3DS version launching on the same day which is also looking pretty good too so keep an eye out for that one.
