Ubisoft have confirmed that South Park: The Stick of Truth, the Obsidian with South Park Digital Studios developed RPG will be released “This holiday season” on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The trailer didn’t contain any gameplay, but contained lots of typical South Park humour. We were introduced to a “fart called the Nagasaki” and Cartman making a comment on the nature of video game release schedules, saying the game would be released “this holiday season or some holiday season sometime soon, you know how video games work.”
To quote the trailer again “New publisher, same South Park”. Yes please.
Also announced by Ubisoft was The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, a free-to-play castle-defence/loot centric hack’n'slash. The premise is simple, you build a castle with traps, creatures and big walls to protect your treasure whilst trying to get through others players defences to get to theirs.
Set in the fictional land of Opulencia and described as “how to thrive in a capitalist society” with it’s tongue very firmly in cheek it looks like a silly, fun distraction rather than a full blown title.
South Park and The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, combined with announcements for a Rabbids TV show, Just Dance 2014 and a new Rayman title, provided a nice contrast to the dystopian future of Watch Dogs and the stealthy killing of Splinter Cell Blacklist.
