Ubisoft have announced that sales of Assassin’s Creed III have hit the 7 million mark and counting. The game has been on the market for little over a month so it’s an impressive feat even by the series standards. I was assigned to review the game and found it to be somewhat of a mixed bag, highly ambitious yet lacking in focus and overall polish.
Fans have wasted no time exploring the game’s open world, and getting involved in the action-packed story. In solo missions alone, players have accumulated more than 82 centuries of gaming time and committed more than 3 billion assassinations. The deadly action continues in the multiplayer, where more than twice as many players have joined the multiplayer mode compared to Assassin’s Creed® Revelations. To date, more than 250 million assassinations have been performed in more than 5 billion multiplayer sessions.
“We are delighted with the performance of Assassin’s Creed III this Christmas,” said Rob Cooper, UK managing director, Ubisoft. “This is a beautiful and epic game of exceptional quality and we’re pleased that our fans have responded so well to the brand new universe, storyline and game experience.”
I won’t bore you with all my thoughts on the game, anything I wanted to say about the game I already have in my review. In regards to the future of the series, you’ll have plenty of DLC on the way for Assassin’s Creed III and the next game in the series is rumoured to be set in Brazil. Some kind of co-op mode has also been hinted at if Ubisoft surveys are to be believed, remember it’s all speculation at the moment.
