Grand Theft Auto Vice City Now Available

Rockstar Games have announced today that Grand Theft Auto Vice City is now available on iOS and Android devices. Yes that same exactly game you played on your PlayStation 2 is now running on your mobile phone or tablet though we’ve seen a 3D Grand Theft Auto title thanks to 2005′s Liberty City Stories on the original PSP so it’s not that mind blowing any more. The title is official known as Grand Theft Auto Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition but it’s the same game except now with horrible controls.

As I’ve mentioned in the past Vice City is usually the top pick for when players are asked which Grand Theft Auto game they like the most and you can pick it up for a mere £2.99 on iOS which is cheap enough. The problem however is how do you take a game that used every button on a PS2 pad and make it work on a device that has no buttons? Well you don’t and what is otherwise a good port is suddenly all the less attractive.

The good news is that you can pick up a GameKlip which allows you to play mobile games using an actual PS3 controller, the bad news is that it does not work with iOS devices so that’s one for the Android fans. You’d assume that San Andreas will follow next but if Rockstar Games are sticking to the 10th anniversary theme then don’t expect that one until 2014.

UPDATE

It appears that the Android version of the game was having some issues when users tried to download the title so the release date has been pushed back until Rockstar Games solves the problem.
