Time for another remake and it’s Prince of Persia The Shadow And The Flame for smartphones and tablets. I hear you pain, I too cringe anytime I hear something I might be interested in gets announced for the iPad and all the other devices we “gamers” love to “hate”.
Prince of Persia The Shadow And The Flame is what many know as Prince of Persia 2, the sequel to the original which in turn was known as the game you had to finish under an hour. No seriously there was a timer at the bottom of the screen timing your adventure as you desperately tried to rescue the Sultan’s daughter from the evil Jaffar.
I don’t mean to shoot down anyone’s expectations based on a trailer alone but something about this remake does not look right to me. I remember being rather excited when I first saw the original Prince of Persia being remade and released under the name Prince of Persia Classic. It took the original game and gave it a Sands of Time vibe, the end result was a faithful remake. It was a pretty nice looking game too, take a look.
Now take a look at the trailer below to see how The Shadow And The Flame remake fares up. Not quite what I would hope for in a remake of Prince of Persia 2 but I’ll reserve judgement until release. It looks more like a Prince of Persia The Two Thrones 2D remake to be honest.
By the way Ubisoft, in case you’re reading. Where’s my Prince of Persia 2008 sequel? That game was beautiful and deserves a follow up.
