Nintendo have released a list of this week’s eShop UK downloads for January 23rd. As always this list only applies to gamers in the UK/Europe and it does not mean these are available to download right now, in fact you’ll have to wait until Thursday.
- Unepic (EnjoyUp Games)
Wii U - €9.99/£8.99
Unepic is a mixture of a platformer, role-playing game and joke that takes place in a huge castle of medieval fantasy. The hero is called Daniel, a normal guy from the modern day: a great video game player, big lover of sci-fi movies and novice player of role-playing games. In the middle of a role-playing game with his friends, Daniel is teleported to a castle and thinks that he is having a massive hallucination. He decides to embark on his own adventure until the hallucination ends. In the castle, Daniel is possessed by a shadow; it cannot control him, but it can speak to him. The shadow can only escape if the hero dies, so it constantly lies, giving false clues to point Daniel towards his death.
- Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (Nintendo)

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels is a true video game treasure. Released only in Japan, this sequel to the smash hit platformer was never brought to the west in its original NES version. The Lost Levels expands on Super Mario Bros. with tough new level designs, trickier enemies, and new features like fierce winds that blow Mario away. It’s the ultimate challenge for any Mario fan. Are you up to the task?
This is the US version of the game.
- Bella Sara 2 - The Magic of Drasilmare (Bigben Interactive)

Return to the universe of Bella Sara and set off to the Drasilmare Tree’s rescue! The great Magic Tree of Drasilmare has been cursed! Only you can remove the deadly curse and save the world of Bella Sara.
- Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (TECMO KOEI GAMES)
3DS - €3.99/£3.59
The original NES™ adventures of Ryu Hayabusa conclude with Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom. Falsely accused of murder, Ryu must battle through seven action-packed stages to clear his name.
Armed with his trusty sword and ninja power, Ryu can now grab platforms and pipes to perform swift attacks on enemies from above or below. You’ll need all of Ryu’s skills at your disposal to defeat the forces of evil and uncover the true culprit.
Xav’s Recommendation
Ah yes the ever confusing Super Mario Bros 2, a game deemed so hard in Japan that Nintendo of America decided to re-skin another game and pretended it was Super Mario Bros 2. We eventually did get the REAL Super Mario Bros 2 in the form of Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels.
Super Mario Bros 2 (The Lost Levels for clarity sake) is infamous for it’s difficulty and claiming that you’ve beat the game still remains a valuable bragging right. If you’re up to the challenge then Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels is well worth checking out, if only to see how far you get.
