Let’s Fish! Hooked On just might be one of the more amusing titles for a game I’ve heard in a while, makes me laugh every time I read it. It’s not secret that the Vita is struggling and a fishing game isn’t going to turn that around overnight but stay with me and I might just be able to get you to pay some attention to this game.
Let’s Fish! Hooked On is a fishing game for the Vita and you’re probably wondering why it warrants your attention, well the developer behind that game is responsible for this game.
That’s right Sega Bass Fishing, this game was actually pretty awesome on the Dreamcast and that fishing rod controller you got with it even worked on games like SoulCalibur if you can believe that. Any way the days of plastic accessories are dying so now we have Let’s Fish! Hooked On for the Vita which does away with all that and instead will rely on traditional buttons and touch screen interfaces to get the job done. Here are some quick bullet points about Let’s Fish! Hooked On if you enjoy your information flow quick and easy.

Described as a “full-scale” fishing game (oh lord the pun) Let’s Fish! Hooked On features a more arcade style approach to fishing which basically translates to “more fun, less boring”. Yes we both know it’s a fishing game but admit it, you spent hours fishing in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, trust me when done right fishing games can be oddly addictive for some reason. SIMS are teaming up with Sony on this one and it’s a Vita exclusive which makes sense, I’d rather have this on the go unless I’m doing the whole Dreamcast fishing rod thing.
Despite the anime style visuals Let’s Fish! Hooked On won’t be staying in Japan and is a getting a US and European release though an exact release date has yet to be revealed. I’m not here to tell you the game will be great, we’ll have to see about that but I am telling you that Sega Bass Fishing is getting a spiritual sequel.
There’s a trailer of the Japanese version of the game floating around on YouTube (see what I did there) so take a look, an actual English trailer is expected in the near future and I’ll keep you posted on that one.
