Players who pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts via GAME in the UK or Gamestop in Ireland will receive the Free Fall map as an exclusive pre-order bonus.
The downloadable map for the upcoming next-gen instalment in the massively popular Call of Duty series is being described as an example of the new dynamic maps in the highly anticipated multiplayer portion of Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Free Fall takes place on a partially destroyed skyscraper with stairways extending sideways into nothingness and lift shafts turned into tunnels and combat taking place on what used to be the windows. The close quarters combat is make even more frenetic as the skyscraper crumbles throughout the match. This means that once safe camping spots are now totally untenable, new chokepoints are created and players are forced to re-think on the fly as the map changes in real-time.
Mark Rubin, executive producer at Infinity Ward hinted that much more is to come on Ghosts multiplayer in the coming weeks, describing dynamic map events as just the tip of the iceberg.
Of course, dynamic map destruction is nothing new for the multiplayer FPS crowd, with the Battlefield games doing this to pretty great effect over the past few outings. The inclusion of destructible maps in Call of Duty: Ghosts will definitely be interesting because if there is one thing that the Call of Duty games know how to do, it’s damn good multiplayer.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will release on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC on 5th November. Call of Duty: Ghosts will also release on the Xbox One, the all-in one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation® 4 later this year.
