Epic has announced the opening of a Seattle studio which will be initially responsible for assisting in engineering efforts for the Unreal Engine 4. According to Epic’s career website, they are recruiting senior level programmers in a variety of specializations to collaborate with their engineering team. Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps had this to say;
The proximity to key partners, the density of world-class talent and all the factors that make Seattle an attractive place to live convinced us that it is the perfect locale for Epic’s West Coast operation. We are looking to hire even more of the best engineers around to contribute to Unreal Engine 4, which we believe is set to change the way we all make games.
Established in 1991, Epic Games is known for the development of the award-winning Unreal Engine and responsible for such blockbusters as the ‘Unreal’ and ‘Gears of War’ series’. Since the Unreal Engine 3 was first showcased using original Gears of War it has been licensed to over 300 games available on 9 different platforms and has went on to win over 20 industry awards.
The Unreal Engine 4 was revealed earlier this year at E3 and has recently won IGN’s “Coolest Tech” Best of E3 2012 award, Game Informer’s “Best Tech” E3 2012 award and GamesRadar’s “Best Taste of Next Gen” E3 award.
